My Story

Hi, I’m Jared Devine, a Full Stack Designer currently focusing on UX Design. I have always enjoyed learning how things work and how to build things on my own. As a proud father of two originally from Nova Scotia, I am dedicated to learning and expanding my skill set to provide for my family.

My formal education is in Interactive Multimedia Development from Algonquin College in Ottawa. In 2009 I graduated with honours and heightened appreciation for technology. Following graduation I moved to Toronto and started my career by working in various digital agencies with large brands to sharpen my design and development skills.

Five years later, my wife and I decided to move back to Ottawa. I worked in local agencies along with freelance work before landing my job as UX Engineer at IBM. In this role I mainly focused on prototyping and interaction work, which after 3 years transitioned into a UX Design position.

My passion for technology has driven me to develop an eclectic skill set over the last 15 years, thriving between UX Design and Front-End Development. As a Full Stack Designer, I bridge the gap between design and development teams, resulting in more effective and impactful communication and collaboration for successful product releases. Collaboration between these roles is essential for creating beautiful modern products that solve problems and inspire.

Life is about the curation and creation of ideas, knowledge management and change. For me, embracing change and learning how to adapt and grow is key to success. My career has taught me how to recognize and embrace opportunity while overcoming challenges. I am grateful for experiences and lessons I have gained along the way and excited for what the future holds.

As a Full Stack Designer, I believe in creating meaningful experiences that make complex tasks easier. My goal is to create digital products that are attractive, useful and delightful. I strive to create products that are visually stunning but also functional. By continuously learning new technologies, theories and design practices, I’m able to stay ahead of the game and experiment with new concepts and possibilities. My ultimate goal is to help people through great design that is accessible, intuitive and easy to use.
